ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting on security at Prime Minister House, Islamabad earlier today.
In an statement, the spokesperson of the Prime Minister House said that the matters related to external and internal security were discussed during the meeting. The participants of the meeting strongly condemned the blast that targetted government officials in Peshawar on Wednesday.
The meeting reviewed progress on the ongoing military operation. It was noted with satisfaction that the operation has made significant gains. The participants reaffirmed their firm resolve to root out the scourge of terrorism and extremism from the country, the Spokesperson said.
He further added that the meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Minister for Interior Ch. Nisar Ali Khan, Minister for Finance Mr. Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) Mr. Tariq Fatemi, Director General Inter-Services-Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhter and other senior officials of the government.
