Special Assistant to the PM for Foreign Affairs met Special Representative of the Chinese Foreign Minister & DG of External Security Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry

ISLAMABAD: Ambassador Liu Guangyan, Special Representative of the Chinese Foreign Minister & Director General of the Department of External Security Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, called on the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Foreign Affairs (SAPM), Syed Tariq Fatemi, today.

Ambassador Liu Guangyuan is leading a twelve-member delegation, which includes senior representatives of the Chinese government. The delegation is visiting Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, and Gwadar to facilitate a coordinated effort towards completion of the ongoing projects of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

During the meeting, SAPM underscored that Pakistan-China friendship enjoyed special and across-the-board support at all levels­ in both countries. Emphasizing the importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in establishing greater connectivity and trade linkages in the region, the SAPM briefed the delegation on the measures taken by Pakistan to ensure safety and security of Chinese personnel working on CPEC related projects.

Ambassador Liu Guangyuan appreciated the cooperation extended by the Government of Pakistan towards the development of the CPEC and welcomed the progress made so far. He expressed hope that the project would not only benefit the peoples of both Pakistan and China but also of the entire region.
